"The Friends of St Mary's" was set up in 2004 to help to preserve the church building and its contents as an important part of Ringmer's heritage. It does this by raising funds and making grants to the Parochial Church Council for appropriate purposes.
Money given to the Friends will only be spent on the fabric and fittings of the church and churchyards. It will supplement the money already being spent by the church (about £4,000 a year). The Friends' do not raise funds for general expenditure such as heating, lighting, cost of church services, or cost of parish contribution.
Those who join the Friends receive a newsletter and an invitation to an annual event when activities and progress will be reported.
The Friends raised over £13,000 in 2004 and they have been able to make a substantial grant towards the cost of the recent urgent repairs to St Mary's. They hope to build up a reserve against urgent repairs in future years.
Information about Friends events appear in the "What's On" area of this site.
